Ryann Lacey, Shannon Hofer Injured in Fairhaven Head-On Crash on 5 Freeway
FAIRHAVEN, WA (July 9, 2019) – Two people sustained injuries in a head-on crash on 5 Freeway on July 7.
WSP revealed that 23-year-old Shannon Hofer of Blaine traveled north in the southbound freeway while 22-year-old Ryan Lacey of Bellingham drove south. Hofer’s 2008 Volkswagen Jetta struck Lacey’s 2013 Honda Civic.
Authorities arrested driver Hofer for vehicular assault following the accident on 5 Freeway, north of the Fairhaven exit.
The collision closed the freeway for four hours starting around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6. In addition, tweets from Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman revealed details of the accident.
Responders transported the two drivers to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
In addition, authorities believe alcohol and/or drugs are possible factors in the crash.
