2 Dead and 1 Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Sacramento Avenue

SUTTER COUNTY, CA (October 8, 2018) – Two people were killed early Monday morning following a head-on crash on Highway 99. The deceased victims were later identified as 32-year-old Shane Scott Stugis and 19-year-old Levi Allen Miller, both residents of Yuba City.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place shortly after 6:00 AM near Sacramento Avenue. A Freightliner vehicle, driven by 49-year-old Victoriano Sepulveda of Los Banos, was heading north on Highway 99. For unknown reasons, the vehicle drifted into the southbound lanes and collided with a Ford F150, driven by Stugis.

Stugis and Miller both suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, two other passengers inside the Ford, 25-year-old Tony Sichley Jr of Oroville and 32-year-old Steven Wayne Dillion of Live Oak, did not sustain injuries. Sepulveda received minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

A short time later, a third vehicle became involved in the crash. A Toyota pickup, driven by 35-year-old Jose Martin Pintoralvarado of Yuba City, was unable to avoid the collision and struck the disabled Freightliner. Authorities confirmed that the third driver did not sustain injuries.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. It was also noted that the people involved were secured in their seatbelts. No further details have been provided to the public at this time.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Shane Scott Stugis and Levi Allen Miller. May they both rest in peace.
