Vehicle Plows into Crowd near Sunset Boulevard, Brandon Baker-Grey Arrested
WEST HOLLYWOOD, CA (October 2, 2018) – Four pedestrians were struck and injured by a DUI driver outside of the world famous Whiskey a Go Go club, located on San Vicente Boulevard, late Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place around midnight near the intersection with Sunset Boulevard. Reports showed that a speeding Volkswagen Jetta with a Lyft marker attempted to make a left at Sunset and lost control, crashing into a crowd of people on the sidewalk.
Luckily, the vehicle crashed into a pole that was holding up the awning in front of the club, stopping it from causing more damage.
At least four pedestrians were struck by the vehicle. Two of the victims were identified as Shane Hunter, a member of a band that was performing in the club that evening, and Gabe Maska, the man who ended up on the hood of the car as it crashed into the pole. Three of the victims were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the vehicle, Brandon Baker-Grey, attempted to flee the scene following the collision. The owner of the club, Maglieri, detained the man until police officers arrived. Baker-Grey was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He has also been permanently removed from the Lyft platform, according to Kaelan Richards, Lyft’s senior policy communications manager.
No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
