Shane Carlyle Arrested after Deadly Woodland Crash that Killed 6-Year-Old Boy
WOODLAND, CA (June 20, 2019) — A rear-end crash on 5 Freeway claimed the life of a six-year-old boy and injured three other children Tuesday night.
The California Highway Patrol said the driver of a BMW was speeding while northbound on the freeway at about 10:00 p.m. He subsequently rear-ended a Nissan pickup truck near County Road 22. As a result, the truck went off the road and down an embankment before coming to rest in a field.
A 6-year-old boy who was in the truck died in the crash. Three other children ages 6, 7, and 10 years old sustained major injuries and rushed to a hospital. The 29-year-old male driver of the pickup suffered moderate injuries.
Officers arrested 34-year-old Shane Carlyle, the BMW driver. He was treated at an area hospital and will be booked into the Yolo County Jail upon discharge. Carlyle is facing manslaughter and DUI charges.
