21-Year-Old Murrieta Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Truck Accident on Rancho California Road

TEMECULA, CA (May 15, 2018) – A man was killed Tuesday afternoon after his motorcycle collided with a flatbed truck on Avenida Del Oro. The Riverside County Coroner later identified the victim as 21-year-old Shamar Turner, a resident of Murrieta.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened around 3:40 PM at the intersection of Avenida Del Oro and Rancho California Road.

A 2014 Yamaha YZF R6, driven by Turner, was approaching the intersection from the south side at an unknown speed when an eastbound 1996 Volvo 3-axle flatbed truck, driven by 66-year-old Luis Villasenor, stopped at a sign in preparation for a left turn.

Turner used his brakes to avoid the truck but he still collided with the rig’s left side. The impact of the collision ejected him from his motorcycle, onto the southbound lanes of Rancho California. Villasenor remained at the scene and waited for responders to arrive.

Paramedics from Cal Fire/ Riverside County arrived at the scene and confirmed that Turner had died from injuries sustained in the crash. Villasenor was reportedly unharmed from the collision and was not arrested by the authorities.

A GoFundMe page was set up to help Turner’s mother, Beth, with funeral expenses. Click on the link to donate.
