Alameda Multi-Vehicle Injury Collision on Grand Street
ALAMEDA, CA (August 28, 2020) – Thursday afternoon, several people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on Grand Street.
At about 3:30 p.m., police officers and firefighters came to Grand Street and Otis Drive after a report of a hit-and-run crash. Upon their arrival, they located three vehicles, including one that had crashed up against a home. They found out that a speeding vehicle weaved around vehicles in street lanes and even drove the wrong way.
Afterward, the driver ran a red light and caused the crash. However, the suspect escaped on foot with a small child. She also left another person pinned in the wreckage. Meanwhile, officers later located a 5-year-old child in a nearby neighborhood. They also determined that the three occupants didn’t wear seat belts.
Trauma centers for injuries treated four out of five people involved in the crash. Meanwhile, investigators found out that the suspect was an adult woman who drove an unregistered vehicle without insurance on a suspended driver’s license. Later on, they arrested her on suspicion of felony reckless driving and hit-and-run, child endangerment, and other vehicle code violations.
Furthermore, the authorities encourage anyone with information about the incident to contact the Alameda police at 510-337-8340.
Due to the high chance of injury or death in an accident, extreme caution should be taken whenever you drive. Also, drive cautiously and always expect the unexpected.
California Auto Accidents and Personal Injury Attorneys
As common of an occurrence as they are, many people do not suspect what follows in the event of a car crash.
When driving, scan the road 1/2 mile to a full mile ahead to check whether there’s a possible hazard. Our bodies weren’t designed to travel at 50mph. Also, we were designed for speeds of less than 10mph. Thus, you need to learn to consciously break that instinct and focus farther ahead
