Several Injured in Highway 101 Vehicle Collision [Santa Barbara, CA]

Santa Barbara Multi-Vehicle Collision Sends 6 to Hospital

Santa Barbara, CA (September 13, 2023) – On Tuesday, several people sustained injuries following a Highway 101 vehicle collision.

It was just past midnight when the collision happened on the southbound freeway south of the Carrillo Street offramp.

Responding officers stated that six people were injured and one of them incurred serious injuries.

The rescuers extricated the occupants of two vehicles and three AMR Ambulances took all six patients to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

Officers said one of the vehicles involved ripped out a large section of guardrail that ended up on the offramp. Additionally, several other vehicles incurred damage due to debris in the roadway.

In the meantime, CHP is investigating the cause of the collision.

Make Sure Your Vehicle Is in Mint Condition

Inspect your vehicle’s headlights and turn signals. Be sure that both front and rear headlamps are working properly and visible enough a couple of yards away.

Also, take a reading of your tire pressure and make sure you maintain the recommended maximum. While at it, take a peek under your vehicle and ensure there are no loose objects or leaks.

Most importantly, stay focused while on the road. Remove all distractions that could cause accidents such as mobile phone use, unstrapped toddlers, etc.
