Fatal Fiery Crash on Highway 152 in Chowchilla
CHOWCHILLA, CA (May 27, 2019) – A man was killed following a fiery two-car crash Monday afternoon in Chowchilla.
The crash happened around 1:50 p.m., on Highway 152. First responders arrived at Road 13 shortly after.
According to the CHP, a 2017 Honda was traveling westbound on Highway 152 toward Road 13, when it made a left turn and turned southbound into the path of an eastbound 2016 Honda carrying five men from Fresno.
The eastbound Honda struck the passenger side of westbound Honda, consequently causing major damage as a result.
Both vehicles ended up on their wheels in the southbound shoulder of Highway 152, just East of Road 13. One of the vehicles was also found engulfed in flames upon officers arrival.
The driver of the westbound Honda was pronounced dead on scene due to the impact of the collision. Authorities identified the deceased victim as 22-year-old Servando Aguilar Lopez, of Madera.
The driver of the eastbound Honda and his four passengers were transported to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno for further treatment. They were reportedly suffering moderate injuries.
Authorities did not rule out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash. Further investigation is still currently underway.
With thoughts of peace and comfort, we would like to send our deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Servando Lopez. May he rest in peace.
