Sergio Martinez and Anthony Cruz Fatally Struck in Palmdale Accident on 10th Street West
PALMDALE, CA (February 1, 2021) – On Saturday, Sergio Martinez, 18, and Anthony Cruz, 17, died in a hit-and-run crash on 10th Street West and Avenue O-8.
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, the incident happened at around 10:30 p.m.
A black Chrysler ran a red light and collided with a westbound grey Honda Civic at the intersection of 10th Street West and Avenue O-8.
As a result, the driver of the Honda, 18-year-old Martinez, as well as 17-year-old passenger Cruz, both died in the crash.
Meanwhile, the responsible driver abandoned his vehicle and fled from the scene on foot.
Also, reports revealed that the suspect was involved in another accident just a few blocks from the crash.
Authorities later identified the suspect as 34-year-old William Alexander Marque.
Police are asking anyone who knows the suspect’s whereabouts to call 911. Those with information on the Palmdale crash are asked to call Detective Day at 661-272-2400.
The family of both Martinez and Cruz said they are in disbelief and heartbroken from losing the loving and driven kids, who had their entire lives still ahead of them.
The fatal Palmdale accident is under investigation.
Authorities are asking anyone with information about the hit and run to call the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station.
