Semi-Truck Driver Injured in Fatal Crash on Highway 99 [Sutter County, CA]

Sutter County, CA (January 7, 2023) – On Thursday, a 2017 Dodge Caravan driver died and a 2020 Kenworth T680 semi-truck driver sustained injuries in a crash on Highway 99.

According to CHP, the fatal collision took place at about 11 p.m. near Highway 113.

Officers say a 2017 Dodge Caravan was traveling at a high rate of speed when it veered to the left into the path of a 2020 Kenworth T680 semi-truck with a 53-foot trailer. The two vehicles collided head-on.

An off-duty CHP officer drove to the scene and located the Caravan driver dead. 

The Kenworth driver, on the other hand, refused medical aid.

In the meantime, the authorities closed the highway for about three hours as traffic crews removed the vehicles and cleaned up the debris from the scene.

CHP says alcohol is believed to be a factor in the collision near Highway 113.
