Two Vehicle Car Crash Involving Big Rig in Sacramento
SACRAMENTO, CA (June 20, 2019) – Thursday morning, a semi-truck was involved in an accident on the 99 Freeway.
Officials reported the crash occurred just before 4:00 AM on the 99 Freeway near Martin Luther King Boulevard.
Per preliminary investigations, a semi-truck driving southbound crossed into a construction zone. As a result, the driver hit a Roadtech paver that had two occupants inside. Due to the impact, the big rig to overturned on its side spilling its aluminum content from the trailer. In addition, approximately 80 gallons of diesel fuel were spilled on the highway.
First responders arrived shortly after. Three people were transported to a nearby hospital as a result of the crash. However, there has been no update in their medical status.
Furthermore, all southbound lanes were closed for a period of time at Fruitridge Road. Cleaning crews were also dispatched to the scene following the wreckage.
