Two Hospitalized after Head-On Collision near Padden Creek
BELLINGHAM, WA (July 23, 2018) – On Monday evening, two people were injured in a head-on collision on Samish Way, near Padden Creek.
The crash occurred at around 7:58 PM, near Padden Creek. 19-year-old Selena Pool of Bellingham was driving in her white 1999 Volkswagen Jetta onto southbound Samish Way as she left a mobile home park at 4915 Samish Way, when she tried to make a left.
There she struck a red 2000 Ford Ranger, driven by 60-year-old David Evans of Bellingham, that was heading northbound on Samish Way.
Pool wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. She and Evans sustained injuries and were both transported to a local hospital with injuries. According to St Joseph’s Hospital Director of Communications, Pool was not in critical condition, but no information was immediately released about Evans’ condition.
Authorities consider alcohol and reckless driving to be contributing factors in the collision. No additional information has been released to the public at this time.
