Selemawit Negash Dies in Two-Vehicle Crash on 15th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Phoenix
Phoenix, AZ (September 6, 2021) – Monday morning, a 23-year-old Selemawit Negash died in a two-vehicle crash near 15th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
The fatal crash happened at around 7 a.m. on September 6.
Phoenix police said the crash involved two cars. Reportedly, a Chevrolet Tahoe heading eastbound on Bethany Home Road failed to stop for a red light and collided with a Nissan Sentra that was traveling southbound with a green light.
The impact caused the Sentra to go through a wall and into a nearby residential yard, avoiding the house.
The Sentra driver, Negash, was taken to a hospital where she later died. No one else was inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
EMS took the driver of the Tahoe, identified only as an adult man, to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said impairment was a factor in the crash.
Further investigation is ongoing.
