2 Airlifted in Collision south of Highway 120
Groveland, CA (July 28, 2024) – A Chevrolet passenger, 19-year-old Sebastian Mathews of Modesto, was injured in a solo-vehicle crash on Highway 120 late Friday afternoon.
It was about 5 p.m. on July 26 when the collision happened south of Highway 120 in Tuolumne County.
Troopers said 24-year-old Sean Matheus of Fresno was driving a northbound 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck at approximately 40 miles per hour.
Matheus lost control of his vehicle while negotiating a sharp left curve and the vehicle traveled off the road. The front of the vehicle then crashed into a steep embankment.
Both Matheus and his passenger, Matthews, were airlifted to a Modesto hospital. Neither of them was wearing a seatbelt during the collision.
Investigators said alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be a factor in this collision.
