25-Year-Old Issaquah Man Fatally Injured in Possible DUI Head-on Collision on I-5 and I-90
SEATTLE, WA (March 11, 2018) – A man was killed in a wrong-way accident on the eastbound 90 on Sunday evening, near downtown Seattle.
According to the Washington State Patrol, a 20-year-old Mercer Island man was traveling westbound on the eastbound lanes of the highway in an SUV, when he crashed head-on with a westbound station wagon on the ramp from southbound I-5.
The driver of the station wagon, a 25-year-old Issaquah man, was fatally injured in the accident. The wrong-way driver sustained injuries and was transported to the Harborview Medical Center for treatment.
The highway was blocked off for four and a half hours during investigation and cleanup of the wreckage. Authorities believe that alcohol was involved in the fatal crash. Charges are pending while police officials continue to investigate the incident.
