Unidentified Man Fatally Struck by Amtrak Train near West Harrison Street

SEATTLE, WA (April 21, 2018) – An unidentified man was reportedly struck and killed by an Amtrak Train near Elliot Avenue West, on Saturday morning.

Authorities first heard about the incident around 8:00 AM at the railroad tracks near Elliot Avenue West and West Harrison Street, in the Lower Queen Anne Area. Nearly 100 passengers inside the Amtrak 516 were asked to stay on the train until the investigation was completed.

Officials from Amtrak said that the man hit by the train was a trespasser. Investigators in charge of the case are now trying to figure out why the unnamed man, reported to be in his 30’s or 40’s, was standing on the tracks at the time of the collision.

Passengers on board the train were all reportedly unharmed and arrived at their destination in Vancouver later that afternoon. Amtrak and BNSF Railway reminded the public to always stay away from train tracks and to never go near an oncoming train. Trespassers will now also receive citations from authorities.

No additional information has been released at this time.
