Scottsdale Police Officers Injured in Traffic Crash off Camelback Road [Scottsdale, AZ]

Officers Search for Scottsdale Hit-and-Run Crash Suspect

Scottsdale, AZ (December 5, 2022) – On Saturday night, four Scottsdale Police officers sustained injuries in a traffic crash off Camelback Road.

It was about 10:45 p.m. when the incident took place in Old Town Scottsdale.

The authorities stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way in the area. The driver stopped the vehicle and the authorities made contact with both the driver and the front-seat passenger.

According to the report, the passenger attempted to exit the vehicle against their orders and was argumentative.

The two officers requested backup, and two more officers arrived on the scene.

Then, an officer reportedly ordered the driver to turn off the vehicle and remove the keys multiple times, but the driver did not follow. So, an officer opened the vehicle door to get the driver out of the car and turn it off. 

The driver resisted was able to put the vehicle into drive during the struggle and took off.

The officer who attempted to shut off the car sustained hand injuries from the door jam as the car got away.

Moreover, the three authorities standing around the vehicle were hit as it drove away. They sustained minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.

The driver also struck two pedestrians in the roadway as they flee from the officers. Luckily, the pedestrians were not hurt.

Officers confirmed that the driver is still at large, and they are still working to identify the passenger.

The authorities are still investigating the Scottsdale hit-and-run crash suspect.
