Scott Maillet Dies, Stephanie Kramer Injured in Highway 49 Crash [Auburn, CA]

Auburn, CA (September 28, 2021) – On Sunday, 37-year-old Scott Maillet of Auburn dies, while 32-year-old Stephanie Kramer, also of Auburn, suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 49.

The fatal crash took place at about 12:39 p.m. near Rincon Way.

Investigating officers said Kramer and Maillet were northbound on Highway 49 in a 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan. Kramer was the driver and Maillet was in the passenger’s seat.

At the same time, 23-year-old Samuel Rosekrans was southbound on his 2001 Honda Accord when he swerved across a series of double yellow lines and crashed with Kramer and Maillet’s vehicle head-on.

Responding officers pronounced Maillet dead at the scene. They said his death was a result of blunt force injuries to the head, combined with other bodily injuries.

On the other hand, Kramer and Rosenkrans sustained minor injuries and were rushed to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.

The authorities said they were wearing seat belts during the crash, and they do not suspect alcohol and drugs as factors in the accident.

Meanwhile, officers are still investigating the crash, but no criminal charges have been filed against Rosekrans. He was not arrested in connection with the incident.
