48-Year-Old Man Gets Hit While Walking on State Route 2 Between Fryelands Boulevard and 179th Avenue
MONROE, WA (January 23, 2018) – During a heavy rainstorm around 7:45 PM on Tuesday night, a fatal accident was reported on State Route 2 between Fryelands Boulevard and 179th Avenue.
Scott Larson, 48, was walking on US 2 in an area with no crosswalks, when a 2006 Audi station wagon driving east, struck him. The 34-year-old driver, Konstantin Gigerman, remained at the scene and called authorities. Gigerman was not injured in the accident, and his car had front end/ windshield damage. He was interviewed and released by officers
Larson suffered major injuries and was transported to Evergreen Health Monroe, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Monroe Police Department spokeswoman Debbie Willis.
The fatal accident is still under investigation, as it is unclear why the Monroe man was walking at the highway in the middle of the night in the heavy rain.
