According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the disastrous crash happened on State Highway 71.

Reports say that a GMC pickup truck collided with a Bastrop ISD school bus, sending one adult and 11 students to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

Authorities reported that the pickup was traveling west on State Highway 71 when it struck the back right side of the school bus. The impact caused the bus to veer into an electrical pole, prompting Bluebonnet Electrical Cooperative to cut power for safety.

After being evaluated by emergency personnel, most students on the bus were transported to their campus. DPS continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
