Savaughn Jojuan Colon Barnes Arrested in Deadly Crash on State Street [San Jacinto, CA]

1 Dead in San Jacinto Hit-and-Run Accident on State Street and Dillon Avenue

SAN JACINTO, CA (December 7, 2022) – Sunday night, authorities arrested Savaughn Jojuan Colon Barnes after deadly crash on State Street.

The incident happened at 8:21 p.m. at the intersection of State Street and Dillon Avenue. When the responders arrived, they found a man lying on the road.

According to some witnesses, the crash happened as the victim stood in the center median with his bicycle. Then, a white Hyundai entered the center median driving south at a high rate of speed.

Afterward, the Hyundai hit the victim and the driver continued south on State Street without stopping.

Sgt. Dawn Blair of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that the victim died at the scene.

Meanwhile, a witness provided the license plate of the Hyundai and deputies traced the suspect and the car to a Hemet address.

Eventually, authorities arrested Savaughn Jojuan Colon Barnes in the 1900 block of Acacia Avenue in Hemet. Then, authorities booked him at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. Bail was set at $100,000, Blair added.

At this time, the identity of the deceased remained undisclosed. Moreover, the authorities haven’t determined whether alcohol and or drugs played a role in the crash.
