Speeding Driver Dies after Crashing into Brick Wall at Hall and Haybecker Roads
LAMONT, CA (January 17, 2020) – A man was killed in a high-speed crash Friday evening in Lamont, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 8:22 p.m. at the intersection of Hall Road and Haybecker Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a gray Toyota Camry was traveling at high speeds when it missed a stop sign and lost control. It then crashed into a brick wall.
As a result, the driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The coroner’s office identified him as Saul Perez Monjaraz, 22, of Arvin. He was not wearing a seat belt.
Officials said Monjaraz was involved in a hit-and-run crash just minutes before the crash. He rear-ended a Hyundai Tucson, but no injuries were reported in that crash.
Further investigation is underway.
