Saul Marquez Killed in Highway 90 DWI Collision [Houston, TX]

Houston DWI Collision Results in Fatality

Houston, TX (June 30, 2023) – On Monday night, 22-year-old Saul Marquez lost his life following a Highway 90 DWI collision.

Houston Police officers said the crash happened Monday night on Highway 90 near Uvalde Road.

47-year-old Angelita Contreras was allegedly driving drunk when she rear-ended a pickup truck near Uvalde Road causing it to run off the road toward a median pillar.

The truck’s passenger, Saul Marquez, was killed in the collision.

Contreras faces murder and intoxication manslaughter charges in the fatal incident, and although she did not appear in court Thursday, her case was still discussed.

This is not Contreras’ first time to be accused of drunk driving.

She has already been convicted of DWI in 2002 and another in 2018. Monday’s incident is the only DWI case on her record that resulted in a fatality.

Her bond was initially set at $100,000 but was reduced to $50,000.
