Sarbjit Singh Injured in Fatal Collision on Interstate 5 [Willows, CA]

Willows, CA (August 26, 2023) – On August 24, a 57-year-old man died and 42-year-old Sarbjit Singh was injured in a fatal collision on Interstate 5.

The traffic collision happened at about 2:18 p.m. on southbound I-5 south of County Road 39.

Officers said Eric Eaker, 59, was driving a southbound 2022 Volvo on the freeway in the number two lane at an unknown speed.

The Volvo came to a stop for stopped traffic ahead of their location.

Similarly, a 57-year-old male driver also stopped for traffic right behind Eaker.

A 2020 Kenworth was driven by Sarbjit Singh failed to observe the stopped traffic ahead of their location.

As a result, the front of Singh’s vehicle rear-ended the 57-year-old’s vehicle, and the detached trailer was forced forward and rear-ended Eaker’s Volvo.

Unfortunately, the 57-year-old man died in the collision while Singh was airlifted to Enloe.

Eaker did not sustain injuries from the collision.

In the meantime, officers are investigating the fatal crash. They do not suspect drugs and or alcohol as a factor in this accident.
