Teen Driver Dies after SUV Hits Power Pole and Overturns on Buena Vista Boulevard
BAKERSFIELD, CA (October 11, 2019) – A female teen was killed following a rollover crash early Friday morning in Bakersfield.
The crash happened around 1:05 a.m. on Buena Vista Boulevard, just west of Adobe Road.
According to the CHP, the teen was driving a white Cadillac SUV westbound on Buena Vista Boulevard with another juvenile. For unknown reasons, the car went off the roadway and hit a power pole. The impact caused the SUV to flip over several times before landing into a dirt field.
As a result, the driver was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. The Kern County Coroner’s office identified her as Sarai Yoc Soto,16, of Arvin.
Soto’s passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Both were not wearing their seat belts, according to officials.
The damage to the power pole caused a power outage in that area.
The CHP is still investigating the accident. Anyone with information is urged to call 396-6600.
