EUREKA, CA (July 22, 2024) – Monday morning, 34-year-old Sarah Webb died in a brutal crash on Highway 109 and Interstate 44.
The incident happened at 5:25 a.m. on southbound Highway 109 and eastbound Interstate 44.
As Webb drove a 2010 Ford Focus and made a left turn from southbound Hwy. 109 onto eastbound I-44. However, she failed to yield to a northbound 2000 Ford F350 driven by 42-year-old Joseph M. McKelvey of House Springs.
The Focus collided with the side of the F350, veered off the right side of the road, and hit a rock bluff. The F350 then overturned and came to rest on its roof. Webb was declared dead at the scene by emergency personnel at 5:34 a.m., and her body was transported to the St. Louis County Medical Examiner morgue by Lonning Mortuary Services, according to the report.
McKelvey sustained serious injuries and was taken by the Eureka Fire Protection District to Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. A hospital spokeswoman reported that McKelvey was treated and released. The report also noted that Webb was not wearing a seat belt, while McKelvey was, and both vehicles were totaled.
At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
