Sarah Villar Dead, Manuel Martinez Vazquez Arrested in Hollister Accident
Hollister, CA (June 22, 2021) – On Sunday, Sarah Villar, 32, died, and her fiance was injured, while Manuel Martinez Vazquez, 23, was arrested in a DUI crash on Sunnyslope Road.
The fatal crash took place in the evening as engaged couple Sarah Villar and Taylor Schmitt walked their dog.
Meanwhile, Vazquez was driving a vehicle while drunk.
As he drove down Sunnyslope, he overcorrected, and then swerved across incoming traffic before striking the two pedestrians.
Moreover, police said Schmitt tried to push Ms. Villar out of the way, but they were still both hit.
First responders tried to save the woman’s life. However, police pronounced the Hollster woman dead at the scene of the crash.
Meanwhile, Taylor Schmitt survived the crash, despite suffering moderate injuries.
Also, officers arrested Vazquez for a previous DUI. They booked him into jail for manslaughter and DUI charges.
His bail is currently set at $1,250,000, and he is set to be arraigned June 22.
