Elvis Tate Arrested for Fatal DUI Crash on E Foothill Blvd and N Eucalyptus Ave
RIALTO, CA (April 10, 2018) – A woman was struck and killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident on E Foothill Boulevard, on Tuesday evening.
Around 9:56 PM, 39-year-old Sarah Louise Gasper of Rialto was walking in a marked crosswalk at the intersection of East Foothill Boulevard and North Eucalyptus Avenue, when she was hit by an oncoming car. She was pronounced dead on the scene by Rialto Fire Department responders.
29-year-old Jose Francisco Romero Jr was driving the vehicle and sped off after the collision, leaving Gasper in the road. Witnesses called 911 and followed the man until police officials showed up to his location. The Fontana man sped off, starting a short chase that ended with him crashing into the fence of his home.
Romero was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, evading police, and driving under the influence resulting injury to another. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga with a bond of $250,000.
The Rialto Police Department continues to investigate the fatal collision. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
