Sheriff’s Deputy Involved in Seattle Fatal Crash on Airport Way
SEATTLE, WA (August 30, 2020) – Saturday afternoon, a woman named Sarah Leyrer died in a crash on Airport Way, the police revealed.
The incident occurred just before 12:30 p.m. on Airport Way South and South Doris Street.
According to Seattle police, a King County Sheriff’s deputy possibly suffered a medical emergency. Then, the deputy crashed into a parked car. The impact killed Leyrer, who sat inside the vehicle.
The Seattle Fire crews extricated the victim immediately. Unfortunately, despite life-saving efforts, she succumbed to injuries at the scene.
Meanwhile, responders took the sheriff’s deputy to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition.
King County Sheriff Mitzi G. Johanknecht said, “This afternoon, a vehicle crash involving a King County Sheriff’s Office SUV and another vehicle resulted in the death of a woman in her 40’s. I am devastated and saddened by the loss of life. I can’t imagine the pain her family is experiencing after their sudden loss. I’m confident the Seattle Police Department will conduct a thorough investigation and determine what happened.”
The detectives are still trying to confirm whether the deputy suffered a medical emergency.
