Sara Bassett Dies in 2-Vehicle Crash on Highway 97 [Toppenish, WA]

Toppenish, WA (June 20, 2023) On Sunday morning, 38-year-old Sara Bassett of Chico, California died after a 2-vehicle crash on Highway 97 near milepost 53.

According to the Washington State Patrol (WSP), the fatal traffic collision happened just before noon 10 miles south of the Toppenish city limits.

Reports say that Bassett was driving a southbound vehicle that crossed to the opposite lane and collided with another vehicle.

2 Yakima residents were on the other vehicle, describes as people over 70, were taken to Multicare Memorial Hospital with unspecified injuries.

Authorities are investigating the fatal traffic collision.
