Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Several Vehicles on Highway 1 in Santa Cruz
SANTA CRUZ, CA (November 24, 2018) – A man was killed following a pedestrian crash early Saturday morning in Santa Cruz, authorities said.
The fatal incident happened around 4:39 a.m. on northbound Highway 1 near Emeline Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the man was walking in the northbound lanes near the Emeline Avenue exit when he was struck by multiple vehicles in dark and wet conditions.
CHP officials, Sheriff deputies and Santa Cruz Police immediately responded and shut down all northbound lanes of Highway 1 for several hours.
The victim, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. The incident remains under investigation.
