Jason Rarey Arrested after DUI Crash at Jackson Way Intersection
BUENA PARK, CA (June 23, 2018) – A pedestrian was killed Saturday evening after he was struck by a man believed to be driving under the influence of marijuana. 51-year-old San Tec Tamayo of Buena Park, was later identified as the victim in this tragic incident.
According to the Buena Park Police Department, the collision took place shortly before 10:30 PM in the area of Western Avenue and Jackson Way.
Tamayo, along with several family members, was crossing the street in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Jason Rarey of Anaheim. The victim sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
Rarey stayed at the scene to cooperate with the investigation, where it was determined that he was driving under the influence of marijuana at the time of the collision. He was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail, where he is being held on $1 million bail. The suspect will also be charged with murder due to a previous DUI conviction.
