Driver Fatally Injured in Walnut Creek Two-Car Accident on 80 Freeway
WALNUT CREEK, CA (May 28, 2019) — A San Ramon man died following a two-car crash in Walnut Creek on Monday, May 27.
According to Contra Costa CHP, at around 11:53 a.m., officers received a report of a two-car crash in Walnut Creek. They responded on 680 Freeway north of the North Main Street off-ramp. The two cars involved were a black 1974 Porsche and a black Jeep SUV.
Officers found the 63-year-old man who drove the Porsche unresponsive. Paramedics rushed him to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek, where he later died. His identity was not immediately available.
Two people inside the Jeep had some minor injuries and had complaints of pain.
During the accident, authorities shut down three lanes the freeway but it was reopened by 2:00 p.m.
CHP said that alcohol or drugs were not contributing factors in the crash. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
