Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Car at Third Street and Gaffey Street
SAN PEDRO, CA (May 6, 2018) – A 55-year-old man was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on Gaffey Street, on Sunday night.
The male victim was crossing Gaffey when he was struck by a driver traveling northbound on the same roadway, at around 9:35 PM. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and cooperated with police officials. There was reportedly no indication that the driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the collision.
Emergency responders rushed the victim to the hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. No other information about the man’s identity was immediately available and authorities, as their investigation on the fatal incident continues.
There is no marked crosswalk at the intersection but pedestrians have the right of way when crossing from one corner to another. The intersection only has a two-way stop sign on Third Street, but does not have a traffic signal.
