Morning 3-Vehicle Wreck on Highway 101 in San Mateo
SAN MATEO, CA (December 1, 2018) – Airbags were deployed following a three-vehicle collision Saturday morning on Highway 101 in San Mateo.
The collision happened around 5:32 a.m. on the southbound direction of the highway, just South of Hillsdale Boulevard off-ramp.
According to the CHP, a Chrysler minivan, a black Dodge Charger, and a silver pickup truck were involved. The impact caused airbag deployment in one of the vehicles and injuries were sustained in the accident.
The three vehicles were also damaged as a result of the crash. The Dodge sedan sustained major front-end damage, while the pickup truck had moderate front-end damage. All three were towed away from the wreckage.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and gave aid to the injured victims.
The southbound lanes of the highway were shut down until around 6:07 a.m. while officers and crews worked on the scene.
An ongoing investigation continues to determine the ultimate cause of the accident and liability.
