Vehicle Crashes into Tree on Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo Killing its Driver
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (December 3, 2018) – A young man was killed after crashing his vehicle into a tree Monday afternoon in San Luis Obispo, authorities said.
The fatal crash happened just after 3:00 p.m. on Highway 1 at Stenner Creek Road.
According to Cal Fire San Luis Obispo, a vehicle was heading southbound in the fast lane at approximately 70 mph when it veered to the right and went off the roadway, crashing head-on into a large eucalyptus tree.
The driver, a male in his late teens, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant in the vehicle. His identity has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
As of 4:30 p.m., the southbound traffic was backed up to the California Men’s Colony. The northbound traffic was flowing smoothly.
No additional information was provided at this time. The full circumstances of the collision are still under investigation.
