Jeffrey Raidor Badly Injured in Deadly Head-On Crash in San Luis Obispo
SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA (January 3, 2019) – A woman was killed following a head-on crash Thursday morning in San Luis Obispo.
The fatal crash happened around 7:21 a.m. at the intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and West Foothill Boulevard.
According to reports, a silver 2008 Dodge sedan, driven by a 42-year-old Jeffrey Lewis Raidor was heading eastbound on Los Osos Valley Road at approximately 50 mph. At the same time, a 2003 Honda Civic, driven by a 52-year-old woman was traveling westbound on Los Osos Valley Road at unknown speed.
For unknown reasons, the Honda drifted from the westbound lane into the path of the Dodge. The driver ahead of Raidor saw the Honda and swerved out of the way, but Raidor was not able to see the car until it was right in front of him, CHP officials said.
Raidor only had time to apply the brakes as the cars collided head-on. He suffered major injuries and was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in an unknown condition.
A CHP officer and another motorist extricated the woman in the Honda, who was unresponsive, and the officer began CPR until medical responders arrived.
The woman was also rushed to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not yet been released pending notification of her family members.
The incident remains under investigation.
