Construction Worker Killed by Falling Plywood near Coleman Drive
SAN RAFAEL, CA (September 18, 2018) – A construction worker was killed late Tuesday morning following a workplace accident near Coleman Drive. The victim was later identified as 59-year-old San Juan Landaverde-Olvera, a resident of San Rafael.
As per reports, the incident took place at about 11:30 AM at a residential construction site on Fair Drive. Landaverde-Olvera was sitting atop a pile of lumber planks that were up against the plywood boards. For unknown reasons, the boards shifted and fell on him.
Responding officers arrived at the site and found the victim unresponsive after suffering cardiopulmonary arrest, with signs of traumatic injuries. Unfortunately, Landaverde-Olvera succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported by the authorities.
The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health is investigating the fatal incident, and no other information has been released to the public at this time.
