68-Year-Old San Jose Man Dies in Big Rig Crash on Highway 25 [Santa Clara County, CA]

Santa Clara County, CA (August 27, 2024) – A 68-year-old San Jose man was killed in a big rig crash on Highway 25 Monday morning.

The deadly traffic accident happened before 10 a.m. south of Bolsa Road.

Investigators said a 70-year-old man was northbound in a 2017 Freightliner Cascadia at approximately 60 mph. The big rig crossed over the solid double yellow lines and collided with a southbound in a 2022 Mack Anthem driven by the 68-year-old man traveling San Jose man at around 40 mph.

Both semi-trucks came to a rest on the west shoulder. Their trailers blocked the highway’s southbound lane.

The San Jose man sustained fatal injuries in the collision. Officers withheld his identity pending notification of kin.

Meanwhile, the 70-year-old man was thrown from the Freightliner and incurred major injuries. The rescuers took him to Santa Clara Medical Center.

Investigating officers said alcohol nor drugs were a factor in the accident and ask anyone details on the big rig crash on Highway 25 to contact CHP Officer Alfredo Uribe at 408-427-0700.
