Rider Struck by Vehicle in Santa Clara
Santa Clara, CA (May 6, 2022) – On Thursday, a 72-year-old San Jose man lost his life in a bicycle accident on Laurelwood Road.
Officers responded to the scene at 9:25 a.m. at the 1500 Block area wherein a Toyota Prius was also involved.
When they arrived, the authorities located the bicycle rider suffering from severe injuries and died at the scene.
According to the investigators, the bicyclist was eastbound against oncoming traffic.
At the same time, a 2006 Toyota Prius driver was cautiously driving out of a parking lot onto the roadway.
The rider fell from his bicycle and landed in front of the Toyota. Unfortunately, the Toyota run over the bicyclist.
Moreover, the Toyota driver remained at the crash scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The authorities do not consider drugs and distracted driving as factors in the fatal collision.
