Early Morning DUI Crash on 280 Freeway in San Jose Kills One and Injures Three Others
SAN JOSE, CA (November 24, 2018) – One person was killed and three others were injured following a suspected DUI crash early Saturday morning in San Jose.
The crash happened around 1:47 a.m. on southbound 280 Freeway at Bascom Avenue.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2013 BMW E350 sedan carrying four men failed to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway, struck a tree, and rolled over several times before it landed back on its wheels.
One of the passengers, a 24-year-old man, was killed in the accident. His name has not yet been released pending next of kin notification.
The 23-year-old driver sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. He will be arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after he is treated.
The other two passengers, ages 22 and 23, were also taken to a hospital with major and moderate injuries.
All four men were San Jose residents.
Further investigation of this fatal incident is underway.
