One Dead and Two Juveniles Injured after Stolen Car Crashed on West San Carlos Street near Bird Avenue
SAN JOSE, CA (April 11, 2018) – At least one person was killed and two others were critically injured after a stolen car crashed on West San Carlos Street and caught fire, early Wednesday morning.
The collision occurred just before 1:20 AM, according to police. Based on preliminary investigations, the male driver was traveling westbound on West San Carlos Street in a stolen Hyundai, just west of Bird Avenue. He lost control on an overpass crossing Guadalupe Creek, crossed over the eastbound lanes, crashed into the curb, and flipped down an embankment before catching fire.
Fire department personnel were able to pull the driver out of the vehicle and rushed him to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released, pending notification of his family. The two other occupants of the vehicle, described as juveniles, were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. There is currently no update on their condition at this time.
