48-Year-Old Victim Seriously Hurt in Pedestrian Crash near the 8 Freeway
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 4, 2018) – A pedestrian was seriously injured on Pacific Highway in Old Town in a suspected DUI collision on Wednesday night, while walking near a freeway underpass.
The crash happened at around 8:10 PM on Tuesday at the 4700 block of Pacific Highway, near where it crosses under 8 Freeway to connect the Old Town and Morena neighborhoods.
A 22-year-old man driving a station wagon was traveling southbound to Old Town when his vehicle veered to the right for unknown reasons. The car jumped the curb before hitting the pedestrian and crashing into a fence. The 48-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. His identity, as well as the victim’s, have not yet been released to the public.
