59-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Car on Intersection in Mission Hills
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 22, 2018) – The search for a hit-and-run driver responsible for a fatal pedestrian collision in Mission Hills continues.
The incident happened around 12:30 AM on West Washington Street near West University Avenue. They found a 59-year-old man, who was possibly a transient in the area, lying on the street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Diego Police Department reported that the man might be a victim of a hit-and-run driver.
A 2001 Hyundai Sonata is believed to be the car that hit the victim. The driver was reported to head east after the accident. There is no description of the driver at this time.
Parts of West Washington Street were shut down for investigation and reopened around 7:20 AM. The San Diego County Crime Stoppers are asking for witnesses with more information to visit their website to leave an anonymous tip, or call (888) 580-8477. Tipsters may also be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.
