Man Fatally Struck by Car near 25th Street in Golden Hill
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 1, 2018) – A pedestrian was struck and killed in a hit-and-run collision on Highway 94, late Monday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred just after 11:00 PM. The unidentified man was walking on the westbound Highway 94 near 25th Street in Golden Hill, approaching downtown San Diego. He was struck by a vehicle that fled from the scene.
A second vehicle, a Pontiac Grand Prix driven by a San Diego woman, also hit the man while he was lying on the ground. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
The victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and was pronounced dead by emergency responders.
Investigators suspect the vehicle that hit him was a silver Honda that would have right-front damage from the crash. There is currently no description of the hit-and-run driver, as officials continue to investigate. Police said it was unknown why the man was walking on the freeway and there was no unattended vehicle in the area nearby.
