Fatal Pedestrian Accident Involving Multiple Cars Near High Tech High International and The Rock Church
SAN DIEGO, CA (January 23, 2018) – Early Tuesday morning around 12:40 AM, a man was hit and killed by three cars in the Liberty Station Area of Loma Point, two of which were hit-and-runs.
The man was crossing Rosecrans Street from Voltaire Street to Farragut Road, when a green Toyota struck and dragged him for a short distance. Leaving him in the middle of the road, the car then fled from the scene. A second unidentified vehicle then hit the man and also left the injured man in the road. Finally a third car crashed into the man, but pulled over to call 911.
The woman driving the green Toyota called the police from her home about two hours after the crash. She has not yet been arrested, but will likely face felony hit-and-run charges.
The victim has not yet been identified, but is described to be a man in his 20s or 30s. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. Despite life-saving efforts by medical professionals, the man was pronounced dead.
A Sigalert was put out for Rosecrans St between Xenophon Street and West Porter Road. They remained closed until around 7 AM, while San Diego Police Department’s traffic division conducted an investigation and cleared the road. Police are looking for the second vehicle that fled from the scene. If you have any information on details of the fatal accident, contact the authorities.
Sincere sympathies to the friends and family of the victim.
