Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted for Fatal Pedestrian Collision on Normal Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 27, 2018) – A hit-and-run collision on Normal Street claimed the life of a sleeping man on the sidewalk, late Friday evening.
According to the San Diego police, they received reports about a hit-and-run incident at around 11:00 PM at 3590 Normal Street. Preliminary investigations determined that a silver 2000 Honda Accord, driven by an unidentified driver, was heading southbound on Normal when it swerved to the right and went over a curb where a man was reportedly sleeping.
After running over the victim, the vehicle continued moving and hit several bushes and a vehicle parked in the parking lot. The driver then left the location and made a U-turn from southbound Normal St to eastbound University Avenue.
The man sleeping on the sidewalk was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Authorities have not released the man’s identity and age to the public. Meanwhile, the Honda was recovered by the police, but the driver has not been found at this time. It was confirmed that the vehicle was sold just days before the fatal accident, and the owner recorded in the papers is not yet updated.
