Two-Month-Old Baby Jemma-Linda Seriously Injured by Pit Bull on 2200 Block of Irving Avenue near Sicard Street
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 7, 2018) – A two-month-old baby girl was seriously injured in a dog attack that took place on Monday afternoon in the Logan Heights neighborhood.
The accident happened in the backyard of the family home at the 2200 block of Irving Avenue, near Sicard Street, just after 3 PM. According to reports, the mother of the baby was holding Jemma-Linda, when she was attacked by the large pitbull.
The dog, Ookie, belonged to a family-friend that was visiting, Alex. Papers have been signed to put down the 18-month-old dog down.
Jemma-Linda suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Rady Children’s Hospital for treatment. She was reported to have a cracked cranium, a puncture wound to the brain, and injuries to her eye. The baby underwent surgery on Monday evening, but her current condition was not immediately available.
