92-Year-Old Woman Critically Injured after Being Struck by Car on Mt Abernathy Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (April 19, 2018) – A 92-year-old woman sustained serious injuries in a pedestrian accident on Balboa Avenue on Thursday morning.
According to the San Diego Police Department, the incident occurred at around 8:23 AM, when a woman was crossing Balboa Avenue at the intersection of Mt Abernathy Avenue.
At the same time, a 77-year-old woman was driving a 2016 Nissan Altima southbound on Balboa Avenue and made a right turn on Mt Abernathy. She hit the elderly pedestrian who was in the crosswalk on a green light.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening trauma, as stated by Officer Dino Delimitros. The victim sustained head trauma and other life-threatening injuries.
