Multiple Injuries in Underage Drinking Accident on the 3900 Block of Imperial Avenue
SAN DIEGO, CA (March 18, 2018) – A 16-year-old boy suspected of drunk driving caused a car crash on Imperial Avenue that injured him and two other teenagers, early Sunday morning.
The teenage driver of a Honda Accord was reportedly speeding just after 12:40 AM in the westbound lane, at the 3900 block of Imperial Avenue. The vehicle reportedly went into a curve, slid, and crashed into a wall.
According to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department, a 15-year-old passenger sustained multiple life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Another passenger, a 16-year-old boy, suffered non-life threatening injuries and was also taken to a nearby hospital. The 16-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
The identities of the minors have not been released at this time.
